Wills & Powers of Attorney

Clarity. Structure. Sound Judgement.

A well-drafted will brings clarity and avoids unnecessary difficulty for those left behind. We focus on practical structure, careful drafting and anticipating issues before they arise.

Types of wills

Different families and circumstances call for different structures. We advise on the most appropriate form for each client, including:

Single wills — suitable for individuals or where estates are separate
Mirror wills — commonly used by couples with aligned intentions, typically leaving assets to each other and then to children
Trust wills — used where additional protection or control is needed, including for young beneficiaries, second marriages or vulnerable family members
Life interest wills — allowing a surviving spouse or partner to benefit during their lifetime while preserving capital for others
Business or agricultural wills — addressing succession planning and continuity
Cross-border wills — for clients with assets or family connections in more than one jurisdiction

We focus on practical clarity and durability in drafting, anticipating potential areas of dispute and structuring arrangements to reduce uncertainty for those left behind.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

A lasting power of attorney allows someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf if needed. Many people delay putting arrangements in place, but early planning usually provides the greatest reassurance.

Property and Financial Affairs LPAs

These cover practical financial matters such as managing bank accounts, paying bills, dealing with pensions and investments and handling property. With your consent, they can be used while you still have capacity.

Health and Welfare LPAs

These cover personal and medical decisions, including care arrangements and treatment choices. They can only be used once capacity is lost.

We guide clients through choosing attorneys, defining scope and safeguards, completing registration with the Office of the Public Guardian and reviewing existing arrangements where appropriate.

Our Approach

We approach this work with care and precision. Conversations are structured and unhurried so decisions are made calmly and with clarity. Our role is to guide the process, explain options plainly and ensure arrangements reflect both legal requirements and personal priorities.

Where appropriate, we also work alongside accountants and financial advisers so planning is consistent and coherent.
